Step 2: Grasp the Handles

Hold the handles of the abdominal wheel with both hands, ensuring a firm grip. Your hands should be shoulder-width apart.

Step 3: Engage Your Core

Before initiating the movement, engage your core muscles by contracting your abs. This will help stabilize your body throughout the exercise.

Step 4: Roll Forward

Slowly roll the wheel forward while maintaining a straight back and engaged core. Extend your arms and allow the wheel to move away from your body. Go as far as you can while maintaining control and proper form.

Step 5: Hold the position for 2 to 3 seconds

The longer you hold the extended or "rolled out" pose, the more intensively you will target your abs. Begin with a few slow repetitions.

Step 6: Roll Backward

  • Try rolling into a wall: This technique may help you maintain a measured workout pace without injuring yourself. To start, position yourself three feet away from a wall. Then, perform the ab roll as normal until your ab roller makes contact with the wall. This is your "touch point" – your signal that you have gone far enough on this rep. Roll back up to your hands and knees for the next rep.
    It is especially important to roll slowly if you're going to be rolling toward a wall. Use this as a focusing point, to be more aware of the cadence of your roll.
